When the weather’s stormy and the days are short, I like to turn on some Robert Johnson and think about his guitar work, and how it would shape generations of guitarists and songwriters to come. A sort of simplistic complexity rings throughout his material that adds levels of deep nuance that allow repeated listening. It’s amazing how well his stuff holds up over time with just guitar and voice. It helps that he was a hot-shit guitar player but the way he combined his voice and his playing was new, and became legendary.
Now for the featured guitar spiel. Here we have The Loar LO-18-VS which is a small bodied acoustic with a pronounced V neck profile and 1- 3/4″ nut width. These features alone are great for a bluesy finger-picking style. The Solid Adirondack Spruce and top-bound body construction hardens back to the 1920s and 30s style guitars that Johnson played. A great guitar for anyone with a passion for acoustic blues. (Guitar appears full color in real life.) $529.99 w/ hardcase.
