These early-eighties Gibbys are a little hard to come by, so having two at once is very auspicious. Look at ’em… Like two peas in a pod.
Anyways, the model was called ES-335S. Confusing as it is, and as you may have gathered, these don’t share too many attributes with the famous semi-hollows with almost the same name.
These models sport all maple, neck-through construction, two Gibson Zebra humbuckers and your standard 3 way with 2 volume/ 2 tone controls. They’re a stripped down electric with function in the forefront and frills left for the other models in the line.
They are a cousin of other 80s Gibson’s you may have seen… “The Paul” and “The SG.” Strange perhaps but very utilitarian. The ES-335S didn’t run for too many years but they’re floating out there in the world still, making people happy, making music and sharing ideas.
