Here’s a gear pairing for your Friday feed. It’s a freaking early 80s Hondo LP and late 60s Univox U-320 tube amp and matched 2X12 cabinet. Both Made in Japan. So let’s get into it shall we?
This Hondo II Les Paul copy in black looks great, plays excellent and has a rich, warm tonality. We’ve had it professionally set up with 10s and gone through for a clean bill of health for your piece of mind. Probably could’ve picked this up for 150 bucks at a pawn shop in the early oughts, but now we’re askin’ $875 with original hardcase. How’s that for stayflation?
-Next up: this amazing Univox U-320 tube amp head and matching cab from the late 1960s. This one came to us non-functional so we paid for a complete re-wiring and cap-job. Plus we gave it fresh tubes and it’s purring like a kitten now. This thing is ready for another 50+ years! 30 watts, 7868 power tubes, tremolo and spring reverb! Doesn’t sound like a Fender. Doesn’t sound like and Ampeg. Doesn’t sound like a VOX. Doesn’t sound like a Marshall. But it does sound goooooood! Cab is cosmetically flawed but functions like it should. $799 and we think that’s a steal of a deal.
