Here at Georgetown Music we are excited to announce our new dealership with Aria Guitars. @ariaguitars We’ll have some electric guitar and bass models showing up from time to time. Just got our first round and we’re stoked! Here’s a brief history:
Aria Guitar Co. started out as a guitar retailer in Nagoya, Japan in 1960 and after a few years, contracted the famous Matsumoku factory to start producing acoustic guitars for them. By ’66 they were producing Aria electric guitars and basses as well.
Like a lot of Japanese guitar manufacturers, Aria made copies of legendary guitar and bass models. Their 70s Les Pauls and Strats are fetching pretty good money on the used market these days because they feel nice and sound great. It’s a legacy of excellent instruments and a passion for the craft.
Some fun, notable Aria players would be Cliff Burton of Metallica, John Taylor of Duran Duran, Cronos of Vemon, Ritsuko and Naoko of Shonen Knife, and Yngwie Malmsteen of Yngwie Malmsteen.
