Memphis Guitars were a house brand guitar manufacturer from Japan that produced instruments from 1969 -1989. They were distributed in the US as affordable music gear with Faux-Fender and Faux-Gibson designs by C. Bruno and Sons. In the 70s, the brand’s guitars and basses were made by Matsumoku Industrial in Nagoya, Japan. Later era Memphis guitars and basses were made by Yamaki who produced some of the Japanese Washburn electrics from the eighties…
This Memphis P-Bass came through recently. We gave it a little TLC and off ya go. It’s an early 70s model from the Matsumoku plant. It’s a totally beast at nearly 11 pounds and feels and sounds like an aged Fender Precision. Original single coil pickups, maple neck and fingerboard, chunky tuners, and ashtray. $549 w/ hardcase.
