Just about everyone who has enjoyed the aesthetics of an electric guitar, can dig the style of a Silverstone. Here’s a striking reissue of the Silvertone 1478 Bobkat which debuted in 1963 and became an instant crowd favorite. Fast forward to 2021.
The new rendition solves some of the playability and reliability issues the original had. Features like a real bigsby vibrato, tune-o-matic bridge, and a modern C shaped neck make it way more user friendly. Not to mention they used actual mahogany this round for the neck and body material… They also engineered a new neck joint for better sustain.
The Silvertone single coil pickups they’re using have a beautiful chimey bite with an updated output volume to make you sound good at band practice with your new axe. The electronics are true to the originals with a 3 way selector switch, 2 volume and 2 tone controls.
Overall, it’s way a better build while keeping that kitchy vibe. Style point galore… New $499.
